Message from the President - Marlene McGlensey
This is our first TTSO eTalk newsletter. I’m excited to be able to provide parents with timely, useful and interesting information about TTSO and how your donations are being used in the classroom. The format is simple and straightforward - we understand how time deprived our parents are!

I also invite you to share your comments and feedback. TTSO is a non-profit education foundation staffed with parent volunteers. The organization’s mission is dedicated to providing the best classroom experience for all Troy students.

And I wanted to thank all our parent volunteers for making our TTSO sponsored Back to School -Taco Night a huge ‘tummy satisfying’ event!

In closing, I look forward to working together with all parents to keep Troy the BEST High School in the US!

TTSO has provided, through the library, an important resource to our students this year: the Opposing Viewpoints database. Students use Opposing Viewpoints to research background information on government bills and court cases in preparation for debates in government and history classes. Students also draw from material in this database when doing research projects on social or environmental issues. The database directly supports several of our California curricular standards. The English/language arts curriculum, for example, requires that students do research papers, and the standards in earth science and chemistry require that students investigate a science-based societal issue by researching the literature.
