| CYCLING FOR TROY DOLLARS | |
|
Thank you to O’Neil Software (Irvine) for donating $350.00 to TSO. You can help TSO increase the amount by committing to a "1 cent per mile" pledge for the upcoming Race Across America (RAAM) cycling event and cheering David Holt, who will ride over 3000 miles, to a successful finish. 100% of the pledged dollars will go to TSO and will be used, as always, to enhance classroom curriculum and benefit all students. David Holt, VP Software Development, will be riding in the men's solo division. He is a close friend of Ken Koci, Math Department. David is a well-conditioned athlete who has participated in numerous events including second place finishes overall in the Furnace Creek 508, Race Across Oregon (534 miles), and a first place finish in the Davis 24 Hour Challenge where he rode 447.5 miles in April in a 24 hour period. He holds the record in all of these races in the over 50 category. The Race Across America is an ultra marathon bicycle race that will start: June 8th in Oceanside, CA and concludes in 10 to 12 days in Annapolis, Maryland. The race is over 3000 miles and is the longest annual endurance cycling event in the world. David and others will be riding continuously for days, up to 22 hours per day, with little to no sleep. Ken will be a member of his crew who follows David with food, water and other supplies. Of course, Ken gets to cat-nap! |
