Principal’s Message
Dear Friends,

Can you believe the end of the school year is just around the corner? It is hard to believe that the year is almost over. It has been a very exciting year for staff and students as well as a very memorable year with all the wonderful accomplishments that have been achieved.

Congratulations to the Troy Science Olympiad Team for their outstanding performance in the 2008 State Science Olympiad Competition. The team won their 13th consecutive State Championship by 54 points! At the end of May they will travel to George Washington University in Washington D.C. where they will be attempting to win their 8th National Championship.

Congratulations also to our Naval JROTC Unit. Troy qualified and competed at the 2008 NJROTC National Competition, held in Pensacola, Florida on April 4-5. Troy sent a team of 40 cadets and 24 cadets supporters to assist the team. Troy finished 11th overall out of 25 schools, a 5 place jump from last year.

I would like to highlight the many developments in technology that have happened on campus this year. We started the year off with a new website design which was initiated and supported by our wonderful Troy Support Organization. The website is very informational and has become one of our most effective communication devices. If you have not had a chance, please visit the website at www.troyhigh.com and explore all of the information sites and links.

Our campus is in the process of completing an Aeries migration. Aeries is the student information system. This update will provide teachers the opportunity to complete attendance reporting online as well as grade reporting. When the entire update is complete, it will provide parents the opportunity to view an online "read only" copy of their student’s attendance and grades.

While the school year may be winding down, the action at Troy High School never seems to slow down. We are getting ready for all the activities that surround graduation and getting ready for summer school. Final examinations will be given June 10-12 and I encourage you to help your student focus on their studies and to make sure they are getting enough rest. Please read all information sent home or on the auto-dialer regarding finals’ schedules and activities. Also, please check Troy’s website for information. Our website is the best source of current information.

Let’s make the "run to the finish line" a memorable one for everyone!

Sincerely,

Margaret Buchan
Principal
